Water pollution
Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies—such as rivers, lakes, oceans, and groundwater—by harmful substances. These pollutants can come from a variety of sources, including industrial discharge, agricultural runoff, sewage, and plastic waste. When harmful chemicals, waste products, or pathogens enter water sources, they disrupt the natural balance, harm aquatic life, and pose health risks to humans and animals that rely on these water sources for drinking, agriculture, and recreation.
